The browser version is for trying it out. Records stay in the browser and can disappear if its data is cleared. For real record keeping, use the Windows app.

Features

What it does

01

Item records

Pick photos and each one becomes an item. Add many at once with a CSV (a template is included). Packaging, shipping method and listing text are saved per item.

02

Cost in yen

Enter a cost in yuan, dollars, pounds or euros and see yen at once. You enter the rate yourself, with links to official rate pages.

03

Purchase date and days held

See at a glance how many days have passed since you bought an item.

04

Price history

Every price change is kept, so you can follow how a price came down.

05

Items that are not moving

Items listed for 30 days without selling are marked by colour, as candidates for a price cut or a relist.

06

Categories and platforms

Create any categories, such as brooches or shoes. Register any platforms (Mercari, Rakuma, Amazon and more) and pick several per item.

07

Archive

Put items away without deleting them, and bring them back when you resume selling.

08

Inventory count sheet

Make a sheet with a count date, document number and signature boxes. Print it on A4, or save it as Excel (.xlsx) or CSV.

Start

How to use (Windows app)

01

Download

Press “Download for Windows” and save Stockroom.zip.

02

Extract

Right-click the zip and choose “Extract All”.

03

Start

Double-click Stockroom.exe. No installation is needed.

04

Add items

Use “Add item” or “Add from photos” to begin.

The first time you start it

The app is made by an individual and is not code-signed, so Windows may say “Windows protected your PC”. Click “More info”, then “Run anyway”. It does not appear from the second time.

Saving

Where your records are saved

  • In the Windows app, records are saved as a file at %APPDATA%\Stockroom\data.json, after every change.
  • A copy of the last 14 days is kept automatically, one file per day, in the “backups” folder next to it.
  • Under “Backup and restore” in the app you can open the folder, restore from an automatic backup, or save a backup file.
  • To move to another PC, copy data.json, or save a backup file and restore it there.
  • To remove the app, delete Stockroom.exe. The records folder stays until you delete it.

In the browser version, records are kept only inside the browser. Photos are not included in backup files, so keep your original photos too.

FAQ

FAQ

Windows says “protected your PC”.

Choose “More info”, then “Run anyway”, as described above. The warning appears because the app is made by an individual and has no code signature. Before release, I scanned it with Windows Defender and no threats were found.

Does it work on Mac or phones?

The app is Windows only. On Mac or phones you can try the browser version. Records stay only in the browser, so save backup files often.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. The app saves your records on your own PC. In the browser version, records stay inside the browser. Only the text design (fonts) is loaded from the internet.

Will it become paid?

It is a free beta for now. A paid version may come later. Tell us by email which features you would want.

Is it an official tool of Mercari or similar?

No. It has no connection with Mercari, Rakuma, Amazon or any other service.
